Job Position: Financial Controller

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Reports to: Managing Director

Job Profile

  • We are looking to recruit an experienced Financial Controller that will undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget, and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

Job Summary

  • Successful candidate shall be a critical part of the Company.
  • The Candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of finance and accounting.
  • The financial controller will overseas all functions of an organization’s finance and accounting department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation, reporting, filing and management of all financial statements
  • Oversee the accounting, filing and payment of all statutory liabilities accurately and within the stipulated timelines
  • Ensure proper application of accounting standards in managing and recording financial transactions
  • Create and generate timely month end and annual reports to communicate the financial performance trends, and forecasts
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, filed, and reported
  • Prepare and deliver the budget and financial plans on time and manage expenditure within the approved limits
  • Perform data migration and effectively use accounting software to analyze, report and manage financial information
  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to identify and implement approved cost reduction opportunities
  • Assist the Management and Board in developing and implementing a risk management process
  • Ensure effective cost control and cost management processes are implemented, tracked, and reported
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Coordinating audit processes.

Educational Qualification and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent from a reputable higher institution
  • MBA or master’s degree is an added advantage
  • Accounting Professional Certification is an added advantage
  • 4+ years finance and accounting experience, preferably in the financial sector
  • A minimum of 1 year at managerial level
  • Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals, standards, and principles
  • Demonstratable experience with accounting tools/software
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and auditing skills.
